Flying from Colorado to Orlando

When flying from Denver International Airport (DIA) to Orlando International Airport (MCO ) focus on advance planning, airport navigation, and adjusting to the time zone and climate differences. The average direct flight time is about 3.5 to 4 hours.

Flights & Booking

Primary Departure Airport: DIA is the main hub in Colorado with frequent daily nonstop flights to Orlando. Southwest, United, and Frontier airlines all offer direct service on this route.

Book in Advance! Aim to book your flights around 40 days in advance for the best prices.

Sample Flight prices for early booking: Denver–Orlando,

(Economy, Round trip, 1 person)

* Frontier 3h 38m Non-stop from $208

* United 3h 37m Non-stop from $217

* Southwest 3h 30m Non-stop from $237

Check Airline Policies: Frontier and Southwest are low-cost carriers, so be aware of their specific policies regarding baggage fees and seat selection. You can find much lower fares on these airlines however, they charge extra for baggage and nearly everything else.

Time Zone Change: Orlando is two hours ahead of Colorado (Mountain Time Zone vs. Eastern Time Zone). Factor this into your arrival plans to avoid jet lag or missed reservations on your first day.

Navigating the Airports

Arrive Early at DEN: Denver International Airport recommends arriving at least two hours before a domestic flight's departure time.

Navigating MCO: Orlando International Airport (MCO) is large and busy. Airport officials recommend arriving at the MCO ticket counter three hours before departure for your return flight.

Utilize MCO App & Reserve: Download the official MCO app for real-time security wait times and airport maps. Consider using MCO Reserve to book a free, specific time slot for going through the security checkpoint.

Pack Essentials in Carry-on: Always keep all medications, chargers, and a change of clothes in your carry-on luggage in case of checked bag delays.

Ground Transportation

For our out-of-town guests, Caribe Royale Orlando is conveniently located just 15–17 miles from Orlando International Airport (MCO). The drive typically takes about 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic, making travel to the resort simple and stress-free. Ride-share services, taxis, and rental cars are all readily available at the airport.

Uber and Lyft

MCO has numerous options for ground transport.

Car Rental

Rental cars offer flexibility but you will incur additional parking fees at the Caribe Royal and at the parks. Parks will charge you $25-30 per day for parking.

Shuttles

Caribe Royal does not have an airport shuttle from the airport to the hotel. However, if you decide to attend the parks, Caribe Royal offers shuttles directly to the front gates. You can schedule a ride by contact the concierge desk at the hotel.

Logistics and Entertainment

To make the most of your trip to Orlando, plan ahead by focusing on timing, theme park strategy, and essentials like packing and transportation.

Planning & Logistics

Book in Advance: Purchase flights and theme park tickets online well ahead of time, as this can offer better value and guarantee entry (some parks, like Disney World, require you to pre-book specific park days). Dining reservations, especially for character dining experiences, should also be made in advance.

Plan Rest Days: Theme park days are long and exhausting. Incorporate rest days every three to four days to relax and avoid burnout. Use these days to enjoy your hotel pool, shop at the outlets, or explore non-park attractions like the Kennedy Space Center or local gardens.

Orlando Climate and Weather

Prepare for potential humidity and heat. (yes, even in October) Make sure you pack layers and an umbrella as afternoon showers are common.

Florida is much more humid than Colorado. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and consider bringing powdered hydration packets.

Sun Protection: The Florida sun is intense. Use high-SPF sunscreen, wear sunglasses and a hat, and reapply sunscreen frequently.
